Audrey Douglas-Cooke, Ph.D.

Eastern Regional Director

Dr. Douglas-Cooke is a consummate professional who has spent several years as an accomplished healthcare professional in various roles in the healthcare industry. Having served as Vice President, Sentara Heart Hospital for several years; she joined the outstanding team at Norfolk State University in 2022 as an Assistant Professor to motivate, educate and stimulate the minds of our college students. Her passion has always been to seek ways to positively impact the intellectual capital of the youth.

Currently, Dr. Douglas-Cooke continue to lend her executive expertise on several Boards in the Hampton Roads community including but not limited to Vice Chair, Board of Directors, Langley Federal Credit Union, and Vice President, Board of Directors for the Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation (VBCDC).

Dr. Douglas-Cooke’s most recent publication, “Factors Associated with 30-Day Readmissions Among People with Heart Failure” highlight her passion for heart disease and her ongoing commitment to seek ways in which to educate others on the importance of heart health & wellness.

Dr. Douglas-Cooke has received numerous awards and letters of recognition including the prestigious St. George National Medal Award from the American Cancer Society and Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., National Businesswoman of the Year Award in 2015 and Soror of the Year Award in 2023. Her academic and community service accomplishments are too numerous to mention but were highlighted in “Who’s Who in America” publication.

Dr. Douglas-Cooke has been a member of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. for fifteen years and currently serves as the Eastern Regional Director. She is married to Robert Cooke Jr. and has three beautiful daughters, three granddaughters and one precocious grandson (finally). She attends Church of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Virginia Beach and is grateful and appreciative of her Church Family. She continues to live each day to the utmost as she is a firm believer God has blessed her with many gifts and talents, not to hold onto them, but to share with others. Her motto remains, “each one, reach one, teach one!"
